Camp India

Greetings from Camp India!

Why do I say "Camp India"...well, ya know when you're at camp and you're having such an amazing time doing new things and having new experiences, but then you get a letter from home and it just makes your day??  That's how we feel...we are having an awesome time here, but it sure has been wonderful to think we are still connected to all back home...THANK YOU for all your letters and notes to us...they are the blankets of love that are wrapped around us each day as we go out on our journey...we appreciate hearing from you!

Now on with the adventure...  The "high point" of our day yesterday had to be meeting the students of one of the "Cutting and Tailoring" schools here that we support.  Seeing all these grateful women and knowing that the girls have purchased the sewing machines that they are transforming their lives on filled my heart with pride and joy!  Fill your cup and let it overflow...

So Dad, you were wondering what the bathroom situation really is like here.  Well, we had the opportunity to see the home where Novahu grew up and where his parents still live.
Here is the bathroom...

And here is the backyard he played in.  Note the pipe coming out into the river...that's where the toilet empties out.

Mom, you were wondering about the colors here...they go from vibrant brights to dark and dingy.
Here are some examples...

What do they do with their garbage??  Well, as you can see most of it ends up in the river or wherever, but we did see the India WM cart go by our hotel window.  Where that ends up is any ones guess.

Do the cows really roam wherever they please?  See for yourself...

Ever wonder about Noah's Ark??  I believe it was "made in India"...

I hope that answers some of your ??

Now for some more fun photos of our days events.  We finished the "rainbow wall" in the Science Room/Library...

Worked some more on Friendship Bracelets...

Toured another school. Creamy Fester was a real hit there!

Played games on the bus while touring around...

Big Bob and Creamy Fester gave out "Pop Rocks" to the kids, what a sight to see their reactions...

And if Pop Rocks weren't enough of a treat, Sophia passed out "Fun Dip" from her specail treat bag...

All in all another great day filled with blessings!
Thanks again for keeping connected with us while we're on the other side of the world!
Namaste ~ Jenny

  4. Since, for whatever reason, I can't reply on their blog, can you let them know that I have been keeping up to date with them and just have a continual smile on my face as I read their comments and look at the pictures they have posted. They look like the are having a ball! Sending a blog-hug to them all!

  5. It's really great seeing all the pictures. The country and the hygiene reminds me of China... same type of toilets, pipes running the sewage right into the river, etc. China did not have cows walking in the middle of the streets however. It looks as if this is pretty much what you expected and more. What a thrill for all of you. :)

  7. Yay - it worked! (Thank you, Jessica!!)

I have been so happy every day when I check your blog and see a new entry. We love being able to see everything that you are doing every day with the children and everyone else.

Emma - I can't wait to see your birthday dress. I'm sure it will look beautiful on you!
Jo - The pictures of you making friendship bracelets with the orphans are precious. I'm sure that they will think of all of you when they look at their bracelets.
Loobie - you are so funny! "Sweating like sinners in church" made me laugh out loud!
Sophie - I'm sure that the children look forward to "sweets with Sophie" every day. What a fun idea!

Your descriptions and the pictures make us feel like we are traveling with you. Keep them coming!

    Love,
Chris/Mrs. S (Mike, Robby and Jacob, too!)

The pictures are great.....esp. my fovorite. :-)
Thanks for thinking of me. Remember to watch your step when walking down the street. (cows) The children (orphans) look like they are having a great time. They will remember all of you for a very long time. Are you going to try to put one of the kids in your suitcase for a ride back to Wis?
